The Texas Family Law Foundation has a mission to improve the jurisprudence of family law in Texas. The foundation took the lead role in the creation of family law policy in Texas in the 2009 Legislative Session. This enabled the organization to record numerous successes, including the following:
1) Passing several bills that repealed the controversial “economic contribution” laws while at the same time reforming child possession and access rules.
2) Defeating and amending various bills that posed grave harm to the state’s family law while neutralizing issues that were dangerous to families.
3) Securing higher child support caps for separated families and engineering crucial corrections to the state’s standard child possession order.
4) Enacting higher professional standards regarding education, licensure, and confidentiality rules for the parenting coordinators who help divorcing parents come up with a parenting plan.
