Texans Defensive End J.J. Watt Returns to Training

A member of the Houston Bar Association, Frank Mann owns and runs his own law firm where he serves the Houston population by handling family law cases such as divorce, child custody, and child support. When not busy fulfilling his responsibilities as an attorney, Frank Mann enjoys watching football and is a supporter of the Houston Texans, especially the team's defensive end, J.J. Watt.

J.J. Watt has recently been reported to have finally returned to the Texans' training facility as he continues recuperating from back surgery. During the 2015 season, he also had to deal with another critical medical emergency. In a recent interview with the Players Tribune, Watt fully disclosed the severity of his condition last year and claimed that he suffered from a harmful staph infection that could have resulted in his leg being amputated. Fortunately, the infection was contained and cured with vigorous antibiotic treatments.

Watt has returned to the field in 2016. However, he has only played in a limited number of games as he continues to recover from the serious back injury he sustained last year.

Valparaíso - A Historic Port City Along Chile’s Pacific Coast

A longtime Houston attorney, Frank Mann provides clients with personalized support in a full range of family law matters, from divorce to child custody. His work in Houston also includes contentious cases centered on spousal support and the division of property. Attorney Frank Mann enjoys travel to scenic destinations when he has the chance and has visited locations throughout Latin America, from the Yucatan Peninsula to Chile.

In Chile,Valparaiso is known for its combination of history and economic vitality as a major port on the Pacific. With its name meaning “Valley of Paradise,” the city was settled by the Spanish in the 1530s and quickly achieved prominence as a deep harbor capable of providing a safe port to ships crossing the treacherous Cape Horn.

Settled on steep hills, the city developed a unique system of staircases, alleyways, and funiculars to enable residents to get around. The ethnically diverse city flourished until the completion of the Panama Canal, when major shipping was rerouted and the city settled back into being a relative backwater. A devastating earthquake in the early 20th century destroyed much of the city.

Today the historical core of Valparaíso, which encompasses four traditional universities and has been home to many of South America’s most noted poets and artists, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Riviera Maya's Grupo Nohoch Mul

Houston-based attorney Frank Mann has over three decades of experience focusing on family law. Throughout his career as an attorney, he has represented clients in a variety of cases involving divorce, child custody, and child support. During his free time, Frank Mann enjoys traveling the world and has visited destinations such as Riviera Maya.

Located in Mexico, Riviera Maya is a tourism district famous for its large-scale resorts. As a popular tourist destination, the area has recently been the focus of numerous developments, but the main attractions continue to be its breathtaking natural sceneries and its historical structures. One of the top sights in Riviera Maya is Grupo Nohoch Mul.

Although its name literally translates to "Big Mound," Grupo Nohoch Mul is more popularly known as the Great Pyramid – a more accurate description of what it is. With a towering height of 42 meters, the archaeological site stands as the second tallest Mayan structure in the Yucatán Peninsula. Although climbing the ancient steps might be a challenging task, reaching the top has its reward: a panoramic view of flat scrubby forests spanning many kilometers.

Mentorship - A Valuable Tool for Young Attorneys

Frank Mann is an attorney in Houston, Texas. In conjunction with his work as an attorney, Frank Mann participates in the Houston Bar Association’s Mentor/Mentee Program.

The Mentor/Mentee Program pairs people with three years of licensed legal experience or less with counterparts who have been licensed for at least five years. Mentors typically meet with mentees on a monthly basis to hold discussions on mutually agreed-upon professional topics, and to offer advice on subjects like career advancement and law practice economics.

Working with a mentor can have a significant impact on the personal success of young professionals looking to further career growth. A mentor can provide motivation and support to young professionals who are just beginning to navigate the career path they have chosen, helping them to avoid major mistakes through the sharing of personal experience. Additionally, working with a mentor can help younger professionals to broaden their professional networks, which can lead to valuable professional opportunities.

1) Passing several bills that repealed the controversial “economic contribution” laws while at the same time reforming child possession and access rules.

2) Defeating and amending various bills that posed grave harm to the state’s family law while neutralizing issues that were dangerous to families.

3) Securing higher child support caps for separated families and engineering crucial corrections to the state’s standard child possession order.

4) Enacting higher professional standards regarding education, licensure, and confidentiality rules for the parenting coordinators who help divorcing parents come up with a parenting plan.

A Discussion on the Two Types of Child Custody in Texas

Having practiced law for over three decades, Frank Mann, attorney in Houston, Texas, maintains membership in the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. Focusing his practice on family law, attorney Frank Mann represents clients in child custody cases in Houston.

One of the most contentious issues in divorce proceedings is child custody. In Texas, the family court judges have the final decision on child custody. The courts can grant one of two types of custody: sole managing conservatorship (SMC) or joint managing conservatorship (JMP).

SMC essentially amounts to sole custody. A parent awarded SMC has the legal right to make all the important decisions concerning the child. A parent with sole custody can decide the primary residence of the child; the medical, dental, and surgical treatments the child can undergo; the schools the child attends; and which sports the child can play. He or she also has the right to receive child support.

JMP basically amounts to joint custody. It grants both parents a say in decision making about the child’s primary residence, medical and dental procedures, education, and extracurricular activities. Here, both parents can spend time with the child, but the child still has a primary residence with one parent. Both parents must agree on the important decisions concerning the child’s future.

Voter Registration Skyrockets in Texas

Frank Mann, a family law attorney, runs a private practice in Houston, Texas. His practice focuses on cases involving divorce, child custody, changing prior court orders and other aspects of family law. In addition to his work as an attorney, Frank Mann maintains an interest in Houston and state politics.

Texan voters are making history in 2016. Election officials are reporting a notable rise in voter registration as voters gear up for an interesting presidential election. Bexar County recently reported that it had more than one million registered voters, a first for the county of less than two million residents. Thus, it is the fourth county in Texas to hit the one million milestone, putting it right behind Harris, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties.

Election officials generally expect a surge in registrations in the weeks leading up to a major vote, but these registrations flooded in during the typically slow months of July and August. It is likely that the influx is partially due to various organizations registering citizens to vote ahead of the upcoming presidential election.
